Hoshiarpur: A ceremony to mark the 118th birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh will be held by the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Pakistan, on September 27, at 11:30 am at the Democratic Lawn of the Lahore High Court Bar Association. Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman of the foundation said. Raja Zulqarnain, Supreme Court advocate, will be the chief guest while Mian Ghulamullah Khan, advocate, will be the special guest. Biker killed in hit-and-run

Phagwara: A motorcyclist died on Thursday after collision with a vehicle on the Mehtan-Mehli bypass. The deceased has been identified as Mandeep Kumar, 38, of Dhadde village. The police received information about the accident from Kapurthala police. When officers arrived at the scene, the injured motorcyclist had already been taken to a civil hospital, where he was declared dead. The police have launched a hunt to trace the driver of the vehicle. oc

drug peddlers arrested

Phagwara: The police have arrested two 'drug peddlers'. As many as 135 intoxicating tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Lovpreet Singh of Farwala village and Harpal Singh of Shampur village. oc

Three booked for snatching

Phagwara: The police have booked three miscreants on charges of snatching and endangering life. Kishan Singh, living at Puniyan village, told the police that he was sleeping on September 23 near Pippli village with his three co-workers when a car stopped near them at midnight. Three accused came out from the vehicle and looted them at gun-point. They snatched three mobiles from his co-worker and stole other items from the site. oc

Phagwara: The police have booked a person on the charge of stealing utensils from a village gurdwara. The accused has been identified as Robin Masih of Kaimwala village. The accused stole three big utensils from the store of Gurdwara Sahib. oc

2 held with cameras, bikes

Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested a person for stealing cameras and other items. The accused have been identified as Rahul Aujla of Bhangala village. The police also arrested Sukhwindar Singh of Sunnar Kalan village with three stolen two wheelers and a gas cylinder. oc
