A person attempted to set ablaze a shop of Harbans Lal located in the Cinema Road Market, opposite Onkar Dass Shiv Mandir, Phagwara, yesterday. The incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the shop.
The shop owner reported to the police and claiming that the individual who tried to set the shop afire was Rajkumar, who also has a shop in the market. The shop was newly built. Harbans stated that his security guard tried to stop the attacker, which led to a scuffle.
The attacker also snatched the security guard’s mobile phone. He said according to the CCTV cameras, the accused entered the shop and started breaking items and went away.
He said the accused came again and poured petrol on the shop shutter and tried to set it on fire. When the security guard tried to stop him, he was beaten up by the attacker. A complaint has been lodged. The police conducted an inspection of the crime scene and assured him to take necessary action soon.
