The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), organised an awareness programme for district officials at the District Administrative Complex here.

The event was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), Vivek Kumar Modi, who served as the chief guest. He appreciated BIS for the initiative and emphasised the importance of adhering to Indian Standards to enhance the quality and safety of public services and infrastructure.

Tilak Raj, Director & Head of BIS JKBO, addressed the participants and highlighted BIS’s role in promoting standardisation, quality assurance, and consumer protection—particularly in public utility services.

He underlined the need to adopt ISI-marked products in all government procurement to ensure safety, durability, and compliance with national standards.

A detailed presentation on BIS activities—including standard formulation, product certification, hallmarking, laboratory testing and consumer outreach—was delivered by Tilak Raj.
