BJP national leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal on Friday described drug problem of the state as a severe humanitarian and social crisis that threatens the future of the state. He said the spread of narcotics has reached villages and cities alike, affecting families and weakening the social structure.

Grewal stressed that tackling the issue requires coordinated efforts and practical, time-bound action rather than rhetoric. He called for sealing Punjab’s borders with round-the-clock surveillance, joint operations by the BSF, Punjab Police and NCB, and the use of modern technology such as drones, night-vision systems and anti-tunnel detection teams.

He proposed creating one-kilometre prevention zones along the border with strict checking protocols and added that cutting off external supply routes is essential for any meaningful progress.
