The initiative aims to inspire national pride, foster a sense of responsibility among youth and strengthen unity across the state.
Bikram Cheema, Punjab convenor of the Sardar@150 Unity March and vice-president of Punjab BJP, announced the plans during a media briefing at the Punjab Press Club in Jalandhar. He explained that the national campaign, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for nation-building through public participation, would bring together people of all ages—from youth to senior citizens. Special focus will be on engaging the “Amrit Generation,” or today’s youth.
Cheema provided details about the upcoming events, revealing that each district will host a 3-day march covering 8–10 km.
In the lead-up to the marches, a series of pre-event activities will be conducted in schools and colleges, including essay writing competitions, debates, seminars on Sardar Patel’s life and street plays. Youth will also take the drug-free India pledge and institutions will host Swadeshi melas to promote the “Proudly Swadeshi” campaign.
Cheema further announced that after the district-level marches, a 152 km National Foot March will be held from November 26 to December 6, 2025, starting from Karamsad (Patel’s birthplace) and concluding at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. The march will feature exhibitions highlighting Sardar Patel’s life and India’s progress, to be displayed at 150 stops along the way. The march will also celebrate the country’s cultural diversity, with a special evening event, “Sardar Gatha,” held at each stop to share inspiring stories from Patel’s life and his immense contribution to the nation.
