BJP workers and students from various schools and colleges participated in the "Run for Unity" remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary on Friday.

BJP leaders and workers started the run from Sri Ram Chowk and concluded at Bhagat Singh Chowk. Former Union MoS Som Prakash, former Minister and national executive member Manmohan Kalia, and BJP Jalandhar urban president Sushil Sharma were present on the occasion.

Som Prakash said, "Sardar Patel was a leader who laid the foundation of modern India. His vision and determination united 560 princely states, giving birth to a strong and sovereign nation." Kalia celebrated the day as a reminder of his legacy and India's commitment to unity in diversity.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) organised the “Run for Unity and Unity Pledge” commencing at 7:30 am from in front of the administrative block of the campus. The event was held under the Sardar@150 Campaign to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and the architect of national integration. The run symbolised the collective commitment of participants towards unity, integrity, and nation-building, echoing the timeless values upheld by Sardar Patel.

Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia (Director, NIT Jalandhar), Prof Anish Sachdeva (Dean Student Welfare), Prof Subhash Chander (Dean Planning & Development), Dr Shailendra Bajpai (Chief Warden), along with the NSS Coordinator Dr Kiran Singh NSS, Dr Kundan Kumar, Dr Priyanka Gupta, Dr Vinil, Dr. Kusum Kumari Bharti, and Dr Ramakrishna, faculty members, staff, and students participated in the event.

Prof Kanaujia, Director, NIT-Jalandhar, highlighted the importance of unity and collective responsibility in nation-building and urged students to uphold the values of integrity and harmony. The participants also took a unity pledge, reaffirming their dedication to upholding the unity and strength of the nation.

A special morning assembly on the theme “Importance of Unity” was conducted by the students of Class II at State Public School. The assembly began with the morning prayer and thought of the day, setting a positive tone for the event. Students took an oath to always stay united and support one another.

Students presented beautiful poems marking the important of the day. The young learners also spoke about the remarkable contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. President Dr Narotam Singh, Vice President Dr Gagandeep Kaur along with the Principal Savina Bahl and Vice Principal Gagandeep Kaur Khaira congratulated the class for the success of the assembly and wished everyone Happy National Unity Day.

St. Soldier Law College organised "The Run for National Unity" to honour the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event was organised under the supervision of College Director Prof. S.C. Sharma. The event saw active participation from NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, who took part in the run to celebrate the legacy of Sardar Patel, the first Home Minister of India, renowned for his pivotal role in integrating over 500 princely states into the Indian Union. The initiative aimed to promote unity and patriotism among youth while commemorating Sardar Patel's remarkable contributions to the nation’s unity and integrity. Group Chairman Anil Chopra, appreciated the college's initiative.

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya celebrated National Unity Day with full zeal. On this day dedicated to the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, a special Run for Unity was organised in the college campus. During the event, the students of the Physical Education Department raised patriotic slogans and took pledgein order to motivate others to maintain the unity and integrity of the country, work together with each other and to spread the message of nation building and development. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her devotion towards Sardar Patel and averred that while this day is making us all understand about the power of being together, at the same time the unity, integrity and security of the country is also needs to be maintained at every cost. The Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare, and Dr. Davinder Singh for organising this event.
