Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV) has introduced a state-of-the-art botanical garden on its campus, aimed at providing students with scientific and practical education about plant diversity. The garden has been designed to offer year-round beauty and to serve as a learning hub where students can explore various plant species, including medicinal plants, ornamental plants, herbs, and shrubs.

The botanical garden also features a picturesque lotus pond, enabling students to study the significance of lotus plants and protozoans in an interactive setting. The garden boasts a collection of succulent plants and an herb garden, with all plants meticulously labeled for easy identification and study, contributing to a deeper understanding of plant taxonomy.

Enhancing learning through nature

Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi highlighted that KMV prioritises the holistic development of its students, and the establishment of the botanical garden is another step in that direction. She emphasised that the garden would allow students to gain practical knowledge about plant growth, habits, and behavior, aiding them in understanding the right combinations of species for different environments.

She added, “This initiative will provide students with an opportunity to learn outside traditional classrooms, enriching their education with real-world experiences.”
