Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested three villagers on the charge of brewing and selling illicit country-made liquor. The accused have been identified as Rajindar Kumar, Sarbann Dass and Kashmir Singh, residents of Gill village, and 12 bottles of hooch and 200 litre of lahan were recovered from them. The police arrested Rolu of Fatehpur village, with 11 bottles of hooch. The Lohian Khas police arrested Davindar Singh of Sajjanwal village with 60 kg lahan. oc

2 women booked for cheating

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked three persons, including two women, on charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy. The accused has been identified as Kulwant Singh of Kotla Baghu, Nakodar, and his wife, Jaswindar Kaur; and Paramjit Kaur of Aujla Jogi village in Kapurthala, and living in Australia. Gurpreet Singh of Kotla Jogi village in Kapurthala told the SSP that it was agreed before marriage that both would settle in Australia, as Paramjit had passed IELTS and he spent Rs 17 lakh for her migration. She went in 2020, but did not sponsor him, thus cheated him. oc

Booked for stealing bike

Shahkot: The police have booked an unidentified person on the charge of stealing a motorcycle. Majot Singh of Saidpur Jhirri village, complained to the police that he had parked his motorcycle on Meinwal Road on October 9, from where it was stolen. A case has been registered. oc

3 booked for stealing trees

Shahkot: The Shahkot police have booked three persons for stealing trees. The accused have been identified as Deesha of Gobing Nagar, Shahkot, Shub Kant, of Mohalla Dhurkot, Shahkot, and Dev Raj of Sarangwal village. Kashmir Kaur of Jain Colony, Shahkot, complained to the police that the accused cut eucalyptus trees from her plot and sold them. oc

PSPCL worker electrocuted

Phagwara: A PSPCL employee was electrocuted. The deceased has been identified as Amarjit, alias Samma, a resident of Talwanni village and was working in the grid substation, Nurmahal. The deceased was repairing a transformer in a village when he accidentally touched an electric line and died on the spot. oc

Two held for drug addiction

Phagwara: The police have arrested two persons on the charge of consuming heroin. The accused have been identified as Hardeep Singh of Beetalan village and Balkar Singh of Chhohle village. oc
