Phagwara: The police have arrested a 'drug peddler' and recovered six gm of heroin from his possession on Tuesday night. The accused Naresh Kumar of Daddal Mohalla, Phagwara, was nabbed at a check point. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused, the police said. oc

2 women booked for theft

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked two women for stealing items from a factory. The accused have been identified as Pinki and Bina of Nakodar. Rohit of Green Colony, Mehatpur, complained to the police that the accused barged into his factory on February 24 and stole many items. oc

Man booked for rash driving

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked a Moga driver for causing death by negligence. The accused has been identified as Surjit Singh. Karamjit Singh of Daulatpur Dhadda village in Shahkot complained to the police that the accused was driving his vehicle fast and negligently and hit his mother Vishaw Indar Kaur's motorcycle on March 30 and killed her. oc

Woman held for cheating

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a woman on charges of cheating and breach of trust. The accused has been identified as Ramanjeet of Jain Colony, Shahkot. Sukhdev of the same locality had complained to the police that the accused signed an agreement to sell her house for Rs 15 lakh in 2023 and received Rs 13 lakh advance but sold the house to other and cheated him. A case of cheating and breach of trust was registered against the accused. oc
