Brief: IKGPTU exams from May 19

Jalandhar: The authorities of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University have revised the datesheet from May 19. The varsity has released a revised 123-page datesheet for all 53 courses on its official website https://www.ptuexam.com. While the examination were earlier set to conclude on May 31, they will now end on June 12. The varsity release also read, "The revised datesheet for the re-appear examination of the semester starting from June 2 will be issued separately. The examination of students from J and K will be conducted from May 19 as per the issued datesheet. The datesheet for their leftout exam will be issued separately. TNS

3 booked for cheating

Hoshiarpur: The police have registered an FIR against three persons, including a mother and son duo, for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 1.37 lakh. Kulwinder Singh of village Thakarwal had lodged a complaint with the police that Daljit Singh of village Ahirana Kalan, along with his mother Kulwinder Kaur and Khushi Gupta, had allegedly cheated him of Rs 1.37 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. oc

Man dies in accident

Hoshiarpur: One person died in a road accident on Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road. Parminder Singh of village Sajjna told the police that his brother was hit by a car near village Machhiyan due to which his brother fell from the bike. Soon, a pickup loaded with wood ran over his brother and kept dragging him for some distance, leaving him dead. The police have named and arrested Sikander Singh, a resident of Rally. The accused driver of the other vehicle Jasvir Singh of Sajjna has also been booked. oc

Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested six 'smugglers' with drugs from various places. The accused Trilochan Singh of village Pandori Sumlan was arrested with 25 gram of narcotic powder, while Rajveer Singh of Dhoot Kalan was arrested with 49 gram of narcotic powder. The police of Thana Chabbewal recovered a large number of banned pills from two accused riding on a bike during a patrol in the area. The police of Model Town arrested a smuggler in the area and recovered 49 gram of heroin from him. Similarly, the police of Mukerian have arrested Vishal of Ghasitpur and recovered 25 gram of narcotic powder from him. oc

woman dies in road accident

Hoshiarpur: A woman, injured in a road accident on the Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road died while her son was injured. The police have registered a case. Jatinder Singh of village Thakkar told the police that he was returning with his mother Santosh Kaur on a bike carrying goods. When they reached near Daffar village, a car passing by hit them. He said both injured were admitted to a hospital in Dasuya. His mother was referred to a private hospital in Jalandhar where she died. TNS
