Father-son held for dowry death
Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested the father-son duo on the charge murdering a woman. The accused have been identified as Avtar Singh of Nangal Ambian Khurd village and his son Sharanjit Singh. Shindar Pal (53) of Udhowal village had complained to the police the his daughter Hina (23) had solemnised her marriage with Sharanjit Singh in 2020 but was being tortured and was murdered on November 11. A case was registered against the accused. oc
fraud: Amritsar man booked
Phagwara: A man was booked for cheating a youth on the pretext of sending him to Australia. The complainant Lakhbir Singh of Jail Tikriwal, Kapurthala, alleged in his complaint that accused Amandeep Singh of Dridha U, Baba Bakala, Beas, Amritsar, fraudulently took money by offering an overseas placement. The suspect is alleged to have charged ?11.55 lakh from the complainant by promising that his son would be sent to Australia. During the official inquiry, the police found evidence supporting the allegations of fraud. oc
Two booked for Rs 11.15 Lakh fraud
Phagwara: Two persons were booked for cheating a local woman of Rs11.15 lakh on the pretext of securing job in the police. Karamjit Kaur of Phagwara alleged that the accused Suneh Pratap Singh and Vijay Pratap Singh, residents of Police Quarters No. 42 at Sadar Police Station, Phagwara, had taken the money from her with the promise of job. When no recruitment materialised and the money was not returned, she approached the authorities, leading to the registration of the case. oc
