Phagwara: A 40-year-old man from Chachoki village was found dead at the residence of a woman in Adarsh Nagar locality late Sunday night here. The deceased Avtar Singh had reportedly been in a relationship with Suman, a widow, for several years. Singh had gone to Suman's house to attend the birthday celebration of her daughter. An altercation took place between Singh and Suman. The deceased was found hanging. Suman has been arrested. oc

Woman nabbed with 6 gm heroin

Phagwara: The police arrested a woman from Dograwwal village under the NDPS Act after recovering heroin from her possession at a naka. A team, led by ASI Rajinder Kumar, was conducting checks near Dograwwal when a woman Paramjit Kaur attempted to discard a packet into roadside grass. The police recovered the packet which was found to contain 6 gram of heroin.oc

Youth held with intoxicating pills

Phagwara: The police have arrested a youth for the alleged possession of intoxicating tablets. A police patrol team received a tip-off from a local that a man was engaged in the illegal trade of intoxicating tablets. The team spotted the suspect carrying a bag. On seeing the police, the youth allegedly threw the bag and attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended. He was identified as Badal Singh of Fauji Colony, Sultanpur Lodhi. A search of the bag led to the recovery of 1,010 tablets. oc

Phagwara: The police have booked a father-son duo on the charge of outraging the modesty of a woman. The accused has been identified as Manjit Singh, a resident of Sangowal village, and his son Arashi. Amandeep Kaur of the same village complained to the police that the accused barged into her house on August 26, attacked his son with sharp-edged weapons, seriously injuring him, and assaulted her and tore her clothes. oc

Phagwara: The police have arrested three persons on the charge of consuming heroin.The accused have been identified as Kulwindar Singh of Mohalla Guru Nanak Pura andHarmindar Singh of Shankar village in Nakodar, and Kamaljit Singh of Chaherru village in Kapurthala. oc

Phagwara: The police have arrested a man on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 35 tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Kimmati Lal of Padda Colony, Lohian Khas. oc

Man held for selling liquor

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a villager on charges of brewing and selling illicit liquor. Six bottles of illicit liquor and 50 litre of lahan were recovered from the possession of the accused Harnek Singh of Talwandi Butian village. oc
