Tractor driver held for mishap

Phagwara: The police have arrested a tractor driver on the charge of causing death by negligence, causing grievous hurt by act endangering the life or personal safety of others, rash driving on the public road and mischief. The accused had been identified as Ajay Yadav, a resident of Alipur village. The tractor hit the motorcycle being driven by Rohit Sidhu of Nakodar near Bir Pind village on January 8, killing him on the spot. oc

Youth dies in accident

Hoshiarpur : A youth died in a road accident on the Hoshiarpur-Chintpurni road. Baljinder Singh of village Kotla Gonspur told the police that his son Manjit Singh was returning to the village from Chauhal. A private bus hit him and his son died. The police had registered a case against the accused bus driver Jasvir Singh, a resident of Kaloh Valley under Gagret district, Una, and arrested the accused. oc

mother-son duo booked for fraud

Hoshiarpur : A woman and her son have been booked in a case of duping people of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of sending them to Australia. Suman Kumari of village Ghogra told the police that Prem Sagar, a travel agent from her village, along with his mother Harjinder Kaur, allegedly cheated her of Rs 10 lakh by promising to send her son Trilok to Australia. The police registered a case and started further action after naming the accused mother and son. oc
