Phagwara: The police have arrested a man and recovered 10 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession on Monday night. The accused identified as Mangat Ram of Ohrian Mohalla, Phagwara, was nabbed at a check-point in the city. A case under the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. oc

3 nabbed under NDPS Act

Phagwara: The police have arrested two persons on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 145 tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Manish and Jatin Sharma of Gumtali village. A case under Sections 22/61/ 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. The police arrested Daljindar Singh of Tajpur village in Kaputhala with 31 tablets. oc

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) absconding for the last year. The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar, alias Himanshu, a resident of Mohalla Kasba, Mehatpur. The accused is wanted in a case under the Arms Act registered in April 2024 and was declared PO in June 2024. oc

Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a man on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 23 tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Sukhwidar Singh, alias Sukha, of Talwandi Salem village. A case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. oc

Miscreant held for firing

Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a miscreant on charges of endangering life and firing. The accused has been identified as Yuvraj Singh of Farwala village. Jasveer Singh had complained to the police that the accused and his accomplices had fired at the main gate of his house during the night on July 11, intending to kill his family. A case has been registered against the accused and his four accomplices. oc
