Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have booked a Kapurthala woman on the charge of cheating a handicapped man. The accused has been identified as Shakti Salwan of Preet Nagar, Kapurthala. Lakhwindar Singh of Gattipeer Baksh village complained to the Jalandhar (Rural) SSP that he is a handicapped man and the accused blackmailed him on the pretext of remarriage and threatened him. oc
Man booked for farm fire
Phagwara: The Bilga police have booked a farmer on the charge of burning paddy stubble. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh, a resident of Partappura village. The nodal officer concerned has sent his report to the police which was verified and examined at the places of occurrence. The accused had set afire his paddy stubble and violated the government order, and polluted the atmosphere. A case has been registered against the accused. oc
Four booked in dowry case
Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked Simarjit Singh of Vadali Dogran village under Jandiala Guru police station in Amritsar, his father Surjit Singh, mother Rupinder Kaur, and Kirandeep Kaur of the same village in a dowry harassment case. Complainant Parjindar Kaur of Narangpur village had filed a complaint to the police that her husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law had been harassing her and her son for more dowry. A case has been registered against the accused after an inquiry. No arrests have been made. oc
4 arrested under NDPS Act
Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested two persons on the charge of selling heroin and intoxicating tablets. SHO Gurnam Singh said 2.25 gram of heroin and 18 intoxicating tablets were seized from the possession of the accused Lovpreet of Fatehpur Taggar village and Kewal, of Kandola Kalan village. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act against the accused. The Nakodar police arrested Navdeep Sahota with 24 tablets. The Lohian Khas police arrested Parwinder with 48 tablets. oc
