Phagwara: The Phagwara police have arrested a young snatcher here on Tuesday night. SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the accused was identified as Vishal Bansal, resident of Rattanpura, Phagwara. The accused had confessed his involvement in snatching gold earrings from a woman few months back.

Ex-secy of coop society held

Phagwara: The police have arrested an ex-secretary of a cooperative society for embezzling money of shareholders worth Rs 12.29 crore. The accused has been identified as Manpreet Kumar, alias Manni, of Khokhe Wal village. Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Phillaur, Anju Bala had complained to the police that the accused worked as secretary of the Khokhe Wal Cooperative Agricultural Services Society and embezzled Rs 12.29 cr.

Woman travel agent held

Phagwara: The police have arrested a woman travel agent for duping a woman of Rs 9 lakh on the pretext of sending her brother abroad. The accused had been identified as Parminder Kaur of Sohal Jagir village. Harpreet Kaur of Sohal Jagir village had complained to the police that she had paid Rs 9 lakh to the accused for facilitating her brother's migration abroad. However, neither did he had gone abroad, nor the money was returned.

Scooter stolen from outside PNB

Phagwara: A scooter (HP-80-3076) was found stolen before the branch of Punjab National Bank on Tuesday. Owner Ishant Sharma of Una, residing in local Model Town, Phagwara, told the police that he went to the bank after parking his scooter before the bank but found it stolen when came back.The police have registered a case.

Woman drug peddler nabbed

Phagwara: The police have arrested a woman peddler on the charge of selling intoxicated tablets. As many as 105 intoxicated tablets were recovered from the possession of accused Bakhasho of Jandiala village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. A case has been registered against the accused.

60-year-old man missing

Phagwara: A 60-year-old resident of Mehatpur has been missing for the last two days. Bhupinder Rani complained to the police that her husband Kamal Nain went from his shop on September 2 without telling anybody and did not return home. A missing report has been registered in this connection.

Campaign for visually impaired

Phagwara: Saksham Punjab, in collaboration with Psychology and Music Department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, organised a sensitisation drive. Around 100 students were sensitised by telling them about the problems being faced by the blind.
