In a first-of-its-kind initiative under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat campaign, Border Security Force’s Sub Training Centre (STC) at Kharkan started a month-long recruitment facilitation camp for local youth yesterday with an aim to preparing them for recruitment to defence forces, armed forces and state police organisations. Under the directions of Sanjiv Bhanot, IG, STC teams under the supervision of Commandant (training) SS Mand and other officials undertook a series of awareness campaigns and motivation sessions over a period of two months in nearby villages to inspire and motivate the youth.

Female staff of the STC undertook a door-to-door campaign to motivate girls and convince their parents for choosing a career in forces for their daughters.

With the active assistance of village sarpanches, a huge response was received and 156 youth, including 32 girls, enlisted for the camp which was formally inaugurated by BSF IG Sanjiv Bhanot today.

Bhanot said after initial camps, more such initiatives had been planned so that the youth get proper guidance and direction in life.
