Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti stated that police have registered 130 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 166 individuals since March 1. SP Bhatti noted that 37 FIRs stemmed directly from public tips received via the Safe Punjab Tipline, highlighting the growing role of citizen cooperation. Additionally, 53 individuals have been admitted to de-addiction centres under the ongoing campaign.

Mayor Uppal underscored the broader purpose of the initiative, stating, “This is not just a policing effort—it’s a moral call to society to rise against a destructive force.” Former minister Joginder Singh Mann added, “Drug addiction is a societal challenge, and only unified efforts between the community and administration can root it out.”

A resolution was passed to immediately initiate awareness drives in all city wards, with sustained coordination among local leaders, law enforcement, and residents. The campaign reflects a determined push to protect public health and revive the social fabric affected by substance abuse.
