Capitol Hospital has inaugurated a dedicated kidney transplant unit, offering renal transplant services to patients in Punjab and neighbouring states. This development aims to provide advanced care close to home, reducing the need for patients with end-stage renal disease to travel to distant cities for treatment. The new unit offers end-to-end kidney transplant care, including pre-transplant evaluation for donors and recipients, living donor transplant surgeries, and post-operative follow-up. The unit is led by a team of experienced specialists, including Dr Varinder S Virdi and Dr Vikrant Mahajan, both kidney transplant surgeons, along with other transplant physicians. Dr CS Pruthi, Chairman of Capitol Hospital, said, “Kidney transplant is a life-transforming treatment, and we are proud to make it accessible within the region.”
