A district-level workshop was organised by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Friday at the local Meritorious School to provide information on the comprehensive manual prepared for the safety of children in schools, including cyber safety.

Principals of various government schools and representatives of private schools from the district participated in the workshop. Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Kanwardeep Singh addressed the workshop and highlighted every aspect related to child safety. Emphasising the importance of protecting children’s rights and cyber safety, he said that children are the country’s heritage and their safety is crucial in every aspect.

Manmeet Kaur Sahni, a representative of the NCPCR, provided detailed information on the psychological and social aspects of school safety, as well as the manual prepared by NCPCR regarding child protection in schools. She explained that the purpose of the workshop is also to raise awareness about the responsibility of schools in protecting children from cyber threats. She emphasised that in today’s time, when children are spending more time on the internet and social media, their cyber safety is very important.
