Agent booked for Rs 20.84 lakh fraud
On the complaint lodged by Shashi Kumar, a Satnampura resident, the police have registered a case against Bilaspur (Uttar Pradesh) resident Jatinder Singh on the charge of duping the complainant of Rs 20.84 lakh on the promise of sending him to Canada. The victim told the police that neither the accused sent him to Canada nor returned his money. The accused is still at large. The police are investigating the matter.
Two youth snatch woman’s earrings
Two unidentified youths snatched gold earrings from a woman sitting outside her house in Kanshi Nagar on Friday. On a complaint lodged by victim Satya Devi, the police have registered a case against unknown snatchers who managed to flee from the spot after committing the crime.
Man booked for demanding dowry
On a complaint lodged by a woman identified as Isha Kalia, a resident of Onkar Nagar, the police have booked her husband Manmohan Sharma of Panipat (Haryana) on the charge of torturing her physically and mentally to fulfil demand of bringing more dowry. No arrest has been made so far.
Two held for snatching Rs 10,000
On a complaint lodged by a youth identified as Vipin Kumar, a resident of Hardasspur village, the police have registered a case after arresting two snatchers. Those arrested have been identified as Vishal Kumar of Khaira village and Jai Sharma of Barna village, near Phagwara. The accused had snatched Rs 10,000 from complainant and attacked him on Friday.
One held with 45 intoxicating tablets
The police arrested a drug peddler after recovering 45 intoxicating tablets from his possession on Friday night. The peddler was identified as Paramjit Kumar, a resident of Palahai Gate, here. He was nabbed at a check point. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused in this connection.
Three drug peddlers nabbed
The Bilga police have arrested three drug peddlers on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. Investigating Officer (IO) Avtar Singh said 227 intoxicating tablets (loose) were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Manjot Singh, alias Jot, a resident of Bhatti village, and Raman Kumar and Vikas, alias Sunni, residents of Bilga village. The IO said a case was registered against the three accused.
Three held for brewing liquor
The Bilga police have arrested three villagers on the charge of brewing and selling illicit liquor. Bilga Station House Officer (SHO) Palwindar Singh said 59 bottles of hooch were seized from the possession of the accused, identified as Harjindar Singh, Raj Singh and Jeet Singh of Bhode village. The SHO said cases were registered against the accused.
