City beautification steps discussed at MC meeting

The Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar (MC) convened a stakeholders meet on Wednesday night to highlight the achievements in city beautification and foster greater collaboration among residents, institutions and civic bodies.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, who attended the meet as guests of honour.

Sharing their vision for the beautiful city, a comprehensive presentation was delivered by Saurabh Sandhu and Komal Kainth, SDOs at the MC, outlining recent beautification projects such as chowk redevelopment, central verge enhancement, park upgrade, wall art installations, and urban greening. Two major upcoming initiatives were also unveiled, including ‘waste to wonder park’ in which creative development using recycled materials was discussed.

Facade lighting project, aiming to illuminate heritage and public buildings across the city, was another initiative which was discussed at the meet.

These efforts have been spearheaded under the supervision of Dr Mandeep Kaur, and Dr Sumandeep Kaur, Joint Commissioners at the MC, who have led inter-departmental coordination for the beautification drive.

Municipal Corporation officials were felicitated for their exemplary contributions, including Ram Paul, Executive Engineer, Saurabh Sandhu, SDO, Komal Kainth, SDO, Kartik Thakur, Junior Engineer and Parul Sabharwal, Junior Engineer.

Several awards and accolades were also given during the meet.
