Committee stresses promoting Hindi as official language

A meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee was held on Monday at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, under the chairmanship of SS Mishra, General Manager of RCF, Kapurthala.

The meeting was attended by key officials from 18 Central Government Offices, Banks, Kendriya Vidyalayas and other organisations located in Kapurthala.

The meeting began with a warm welcome from Shri Bhupeshwar Atri, Chief Official Language Officer of RCF, who greeted the members of the committee. During the meeting, special focus was placed on promoting the use and propagation of the official language in government work. The difficulties faced in this regard were discussed and solutions were suggested to overcome them under the guidance of the General Manager.

A presentation was delivered on the initiatives undertaken by all the member offices to promote the official language. Another presentation highlighted the use of digital signatures in Hindi on official letters and the use of Google tools for typing in Hindi.

It was recommended that Hindi magazines published by all member offices be exchanged among them. Additionally, all the attendees were presented with the Rajbhasha magazine “Arunoday” published by RCF.

In his address, General Manager Mishra emphasised that the main objective of the committee is to promote the progressive use of the official language in Central Government offices and to resolve any difficulties in implementing the official language policy.

He added that the committee was set up to fulfill the goals outlined in the annual program issued by the Official Language Department of the Government of India. The focus remains on advancing the promotion and development of Hindi as the official language and to encourage its use in various government functions.
