A case of theft was reported in the early hours today at Shiv Mandir on the premises of Shri Hanumangarhi Temple near the bus stand in Phagwara. Station House Officer (SHO), Phagwara, Gaurav Dhir promptly arrived at the scene.

According to initial reports, an individual entered the temple premises early this morning and stole a copper idol of "Naag Devta" from the sanctum sanctorum. Upon learning about the theft, Hindu leaders, including advocate Ravinder Sharma, Shiv Sena members Inderjit Karwal, Rajesh Palta, Gurdip Saini, and Vipin Sharma reached the temple to review the situation.

The CCTV footage is currently being examined by the authorities.

Senior police officials, including SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti and DSP Bharat Bhushan also visited the site to assess the situation and reassure the local community. SP Bhatti assured the Hindu leaders that the culprit would be apprehended at the earliest.

Hindu leaders have demanded swift police action, expressing deep concern and resentment over the incident.
