Cops give guard of honour to Nagar Kirtan in Jalandhar

The Nagar Kirtan resumed onward journey from Gurdwara Santgarh where it had halted last night. Devotees stood along the route through which it was to pass. They showered flower petals and organised roadside stalls of langar and tea for the sangat accompanying the bedecked palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib.
The Nagar Kirtan passed through Kapurthala Chowk, Patel Chowk, Basti Adda Chowk, Bhagwan Valmik Chowk and Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk reaching Guru Nanak Mission Chowk around 10 am. A contingent of the Punjab Police presented it a guard of honour. From then on, it proceeded towards BMC Chowk and Ladowali Road where Congress leaders led by Rajinder Beri and BJP leaders led by Manoranjan Kalia put up stalls and received it. From there on, it moved further towards BSF Chowk, PAP Chowk, Rama Mandi Chowk and then towards Nawanshahr.
Several dignitaries who joined the Nagar Kirtan included Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, Mayor Vaneet Dhir, Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, ADC Jasvir Singh, Adviser to the Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Deepak Bali, and Punjab Agriculture Development Bank Chairman Pawan Kumar Tinu.
All paid obeisance before Guru Granth Sahib and prayed for ‘Sarbat da Bhala’, seeking blessings for peace and universal welfare. Jasvir Singh accompanied the Nagar Kirtan until it left the district for Nawanshahr.
Bhagat said the government was commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib with unprecedented grandeur. A series of statewide events, including Nagar Kirtans, a Special Vidhan Sabha session at Sri Anandpur Sahib, drone shows, and light-and-sound presentations, were held to spread the Guru's timeless message of peace and universal brotherhood.
Likewise, Adviser Deepak Bali and Chairman Pawan Kumar Tinu urged devotees to follow the Guru's path of courage, compassion, and selfless service. On Friday night when the Nagar Kirtan entered via Kartarpur, AAP MLA, Kartarpur, Balkar Singh was among those who received it. Other administrative officials had joined the Nagar Kirtan at Maqsudan Chowk before its halt at Gurdwara Santgarh Sahib.
