The Shahkot police have arrested a couple accused of torturing their daughter-in-law over dowry demands.

Sub-Inspector Buta Ram revealed that the accused, Pritam Pal and his wife Kulwindar Kaur, both from Kherra village in Ludhiana, were booked after a complaint from Sukhveer Kaur of Punia village. Sukhveer alleged that her in-laws began torturing her after her marriage to Lovpreet Singh, who now resides in Austria. A case has been filed under sections 498-A (torturing woman for dowry) and 406 (breach of trust) of the IPC.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
