Students from 25 schools across Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Kapurthala districts participated with great enthusiasm in the literary and creative competitions dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur, organised by the Sur Sangam Educational Trust, Mahilpur. Harkirat Kaur, Baneet Singh, Anamika and Gurasees Singh secured the first positions in the essay, poetry, story and painting competitions, respectively. Dr Parminder Singh, Amandeep Singh Bains, Bagga Singh Artist, Chanchal Singh Bains and Raghubir Singh Kaloya attended the event to congratulate the students. Expressing gratitude, Baljinder Mann encouraged children to read as many books as possible.

In essay writing, the first position was secured by Harkirat Kaur of Government High School, Tutomajara, followed by Srishti of Khalsa Collegiate School, Mahilpur, in second place, and Arshpreet Kaur of PM Shri Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mahilpur, in third place.

In the story writing competition, Baneet Singh of Government High School, Kalewal Bhagtan, emerged first, while the second and third positions were secured by Japandeep Singh of Ankur Public High School, Mahilpur, and Ragav Singh of Khalsa Collegiate School, Mahilpur, respectively.

In the poetry competition, Anamika of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Public School, Ladhewala, secured first place, followed by Ritika Heer of Monica Memorial School, Malee, in second place, and Tarnum Raju of King Edward Public School, Tutomajara, in third place.

In the painting competition, Gurasees Sahni of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa Collegiate School, Mahilpur, won first place for creating a magnificent painting depicting Punjabi culture. The second place went to Amanpreet Kaur of Ankur Public School, Mahilpur, while third place was jointly awarded to Muskan Kaur of St Soldier Divine Public School, Mahilpur, and Jasvir Kaur of Government Secondary School, Phagwara.
