The second day of the district-level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan organised by the Sports Department of the Government of Punjab concluded with great enthusiasm in Hoshiarpur today. On the occasion, District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh said people of different age groups took part in these games — ranging from 14 to over 70 years.

This district-level sports competition is being organised at various places from September 16 to 22. Competitions were held in various sports such as athletics, boxing, handball. Players of different age and weight categories performed excellently.

In athletics U-17 boys, Lovely Thakur secured the first position in the 800m race, while Diljeet Singh stood second and Ranjit third. In the U-17 girls, Jessica stood first, Jiya was second and Ananya third.

In the U-14 girls’ 60m race, Sahajbir was first, followed by Arshdeep Singh and Manjit Singh. In the girls’ 60m race, Ravneet Kaur came first, followed by Mamta and Manvi.In the U-21 boys high jump, Gurpreet Singh came first, Shivam Dadwal second and Jagjato Singh third. In the girls’ high jump, Rukhsana came first, followed by Dimple and Rosie Sahota.

In the U-21 (45-48 kg weight category), Radhika came first, Sukhvir Kaur was second and Pinky third. In the 54-57 kg weight category, Rajpreet Kaur came first, while Kashish Sharma won in the 57-60 kg weight category.

In the boxing events, Palak came first in the U-17 (44-46 kg) weight category, while Priya came second and Roshni was third.

Among the players in the age group of 21-30 years, Anisha, Diksha and Anuradha secured first position in their respective weight categories.

In handball competitions, the U-14 girls team of Meghowal Ganjian won the gold medal in the final match, while Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Railway Mandi, won the silver and Mahilpur team won the bronze medal.

In the U-17 category, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Railway Mandi, won the gold medal, Meghowal Ganjian team won silver and Mahilpur team won bronze.
