Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today held a meeting with the officials of all departments at the District Administrative Complex to review the preparations made for the flood protection and rescue works for the ongoing monsoon season.

The Deputy Commissioner said there would be no negligence in flood protection works and the officer concerned would be personally responsible for any lapse. He said for better communication in any adverse situation, the phone and mobile numbers of any officer/employee must be in working condition for 24×7 so that the rescue operations could be launched immediately if required.

He instructed the officials of all the departments to make necessary arrangements in advance for the prevention of possible floods so that there is no problem in case of need. He also informed that the flood control room 9882317651 is open 24 hours.

He also directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation and Sewerage Department to keep pumps ready to drain out flood or rain water accumulated in urban areas and ensure cleanliness of drains.

He asked the officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department to form teams of doctors and make advance arrangements for medicines, etc. for the healthcare of the affected people during the floods.

On the occasion, Phagwara Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Nayan Jasal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anupam Kler, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) SP Angra, Bholath SDM Ranjit Singh, Sultanpur Lodhi SDM Randeep Singh, District Revenue Officer Major Banipal and SDO (Drainage) Gurcharan Singh Pannu among others were present on the occasion.
