During the inspection, he visited critical points along the Dhussi Bandh in Sultanpur Lodhi, Dhilwan and Bhulath, including Dera Hari Singh Complex, Amritpur, Baghuana, Kishan Singh Wala Bharoana, Baupur and Talwandi Chaudharyan. The Deputy Commissioner directed that all flood protection works be completed before June 15, emphasising the urgency of readiness to avoid any hardship to the local population.
He also interacted with residents of the river-adjacent areas, listening to their concerns and issuing immediate on-site instructions to the concerned officials to resolve the issues raised.
Stating that the district administration has made adequate preparations, Panchal highlighted the importance of expediting the installation of stone studs on the Beas River’s banks. He also announced that a tree plantation campaign will be launched during the monsoon season along the bandh to strengthen advance embankments and prevent erosion.
In Dhilwan, the DC also reviewed arrangements at Mand Butala, Mand Chakkoki, and Mand Kulla, ensuring that comprehensive safety measures are being put in place. He reiterated that all departments have been directed to implement the Flood Protection Action Plan 2025 and the District Disaster Management Plan 2025 in full detail.
To ensure seamless coordination across departments, the District Revenue Officer has been appointed as the nodal officer, while each department has been assigned its own nodal officer for efficient inter-departmental communication and coordination in case of emergencies.
Additionally, a district-level control room has been established for flood prevention and rescue operations. The public can contact the control room at 01822-231990.
