A review meeting of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ scheme was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, in which officials of various departments participated. The Deputy Commissioner took several important decisions during the meeting. He said that tree plantation will be done in the name of newborn girls in 10 blocks of the district.

The initiative will be a symbol of promoting environmental protection as well as respect for newborn girls in the district.

Apart from this, free driving training and free coaching classes will be held for girls. The DC said that the aim of these programmes is to make girls and women self-reliant and provide them with the necessary skills to become independent.

Mittal also said that more and women should be encouraged to participate in the mega employment fair being organised by the District Employment and Business Bureau on August 27.

The employment fair will provide new job opportunities to women, which will help in empowering them economically.

District Programme Officer Hardeep Kaur, District Development Fellow Zoya Siddiqui, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Kamlesh, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Preet Kohli, Deputy District Education Officer Dheeraj Vashisht, District Employment Officer Sanjeev Kumar and Child Development Project Officer, besides officials from other departments were also present on the occasion.
