After being assigned a room, Vij had dinner and retired for the night.

In the morning, the hotel staff knocked at his door but received no response. Repeated attempts to elicit a reaction went unanswered, prompting them to forcibly open the door. To their shock, they found Vij hanging in the room.

The Banga police were immediately informed. SHO Manjeet Kaur, along with ASI Ram Lal and other officials, arrived at the scene to investigate.

Sunil Vij’s body and car have been taken into custody and the body has been sent to the Banga mortuary for post-mortem. His family has been informed of the tragic incident.

Preliminary reports suggest that Vij, a taxi driver by profession, had been living in Mandhali for the past 4-5 years. However, the reasons behind the alleged suicide remain unclear.

The police are conducting further investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. CCTV footages from the hotel and Vij’s personal belongings, including his phone, are likely to be examined as part of the inquiry.

This incident has sent shock waves through the local community, highlighting the need for greater awareness of mental health issues.
