The four suspects have been booked by the police under Section 302 of the IPC. The incident took place on Tuesday morning. The Kapurthala SHO said Mahajan was distributing slips among residents for free ration when the suspects came and had an argument over not giving slip to them. In his complaint, Mahajan’s son said the suspects started punching his father severely due to which he collapsed. The body had been sent to the Civil Hospital for postmortem, the police said. TNS
Burglars decamp with valuables
Phagwara: A repair shop was reportedly burgled on Khottra Road here on Sunday night. Owner of the shop, Chaman Lal, in his complaint to the police said he closed his shop on Saturday night and when he opened it on Monday, it was found burgled. The miscreants entered the shop after breaking the locks and decamped with valuables, including one AC, gas cylinder and Rs 20,000 in cash. The police have registered a case in this regard. oc
