Detailed inspection of Nagar Kirtan route conducted

Instructions for welcome, making security and other arrangements issued

The Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner (DC), Aashika Jain, along with senior civil and police officials, conducted a detailed inspection of the Nagar Kirtan route heading from Hoshiarpur to Garhshankar. The inspection was part of the preparations for the historic Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The DC reviewed arrangements related to welcome, security, traffic regulation and essential services. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said last week a team of senior district officials had inspected the Mukerian, Dasuya, Gardhiwala, Bhoonga and Hariana stretches on a bus. Continuing the same exercise, the team today inspected Naloiyan Chowk, Mata Chintpurni Chowk, Gurdwara Mitha Tivana, Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Sahib, Prabhat Chowk, Phagwara Chowk, Ghanta Ghar Chowk, Session Chowk, Mahilpur Adda, Chabbewal, Mahilpur and the route up to Garhshankar to ensure that all departments complete their preparations for the Nagar Kirtan well in time.

She said the Nagar Kirtan, which commenced from Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), would enter Hoshiarpur district on November 21 via Pathankot and would be accorded a Guard of Honour at Mukerian. On the same day, it would proceed through Dasuya and Gardhiwala and halt for the night stay at Gurdwara Sri Rampur Khera.

On November 22, the Nagar Kirtan would depart from Rampur Khera and travel through Bhoonga, Hariana, Hoshiarpur, Chabbewal, Mahilpur and Garhshankar before reaching Sri Anandpur Sahib.

During the inspection, DC Jain instructed officials of all departments concerned to complete route cleanliness, make arrangements for security, traffic management, lighting, medical assistance and other essential preparations in a time-bound manner.

She said no shortcoming would be tolerated in the welcome of the Nagar Kirtan and special duty officers would be deployed at all key points to ensure devotees face no inconvenience. She also mentioned that special welcome gates were being installed along the route.

Extending a warm invitation to the people of Hoshiarpur district, the DC urged them to participate in historic Nagar Kirtan dedicated to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s supreme sacrifice with devotion and enthusiasm.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, SP Major Singh, Hoshiarpur SDM Gursimranjeet Kaur, Garhshankar SDM Sanjeev Kumar, District Development and Panchayat Officer Sandeep Singh, Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Sandeep Tiwari, PWD XEN Gurmeet Singh, Power Corporation XEN Kuldeep Singh Thakur and other officials were present during the inspection
