As per guidelines of Civil Surgeon Dr Pawan Kumar Shagotra, District Health Officer Dr Jatinder Bhatia visited various schools in villages near Hoshiarpur in the past few days and inspected the mid-day meal being prepared for students and made them aware about the need to take special care of hygiene while preparing food for the students.

He made the staff preparing mid-day meal aware and said special attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the place where food is prepared. Clean and separate dusters should be used to clean surfaces and wipe utensils. Separate and covered dustbins should be used for food waste. Ensure that all food and beverages are covered. He said that hands must be washed before and after eating, after using the toilet, and after coughing, sneezing, etc. He also stressed on paying special attention to hand hygiene. He instructed that FSSAI standards should be followed for preparing mid-day meal.

Dr Jatinder Bhatia said that for the healthy life of the students, it is important that they take special care of the cleanliness of themselves and their surroundings.
