A young 'dholi', identified as Avinash, alias Golu (30), was shot dead by some armed miscreants after minor arguments in a janjghar, Hadiabad, on late Wednesday night.

In the midst of a verbal exchange, three youths arrived in a car and allegedly escalated the argument, leading to the sudden firing that caused Avinash to collapse on the spot. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The police, led by SP Madhvi Sharma, today arrested one of the accused Amritpal Singh of Manikpur village near Shahkot. Two others, Jaspreet Singh of Khajurala and Rajkaran, also resident of Shahkot, have been nominated in the case.

The police have recovered an empty catridge shell from the crime site.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by DSP Bharat Bhushan and SHO Satnampura Hardip Singh, has been constituted to ensure transparent, thorough, and accountable investigation in line with policing ethics and public responsibility.

SSP Gaurav Toora appreciated the swift tracing of the case and reaffirmed that strict action would be taken so that no individual feels emboldened to take the law into their hands. He maintained that such crimes will be tackled with prompt response and uncompromising legal action.
