To inspire the voters to be a part of the world’s largest democracy, a district-level event will be held at HMV College on January 25 to mark National Voters’ Day.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Vishesh Sarangal said that on the occasion, newly registered voters will be given voter ID cards with photographs. He said on the occasion of Voters’ Day, different educational institutions of the district were conducting activities including essay writing, poster and slogan making, speech, rangoli making, drama etc. among the students regarding voter participation in democracy and election activities. Students who will secure first, second and third positions will be honoured during the district-level event.

The DC further said the District Education Officer (Secondary) had also been directed to conduct essay writing competition among the students of the schools, the first three winners of will be awarded during the district-level function.

He said that apart from the district-level National Voters’ Day, various celebrations will also be held at the booth-level in the assembly constituencies across the district.

He appealed to all the educational institutions to encourage the eligible students to register as voters for the strengthening of democracy and to make them aware of the importance of voting rights.
