Drug addict dies in police custody in Kapurthala

DSP Deep Karan Singh confirmed the death of the accused in police remand at the police station. He told mediapersons that accused Vinod Kumar (20) of Saido Bhulana was arrested on March 30 following recovery of 6 gram of heroin and 25 capsules of drugs and the police, after registering a criminal case under the NDPS Act, produced him in local court and judge sent him to police remand for two days.
DSP said at 3:30 am, his condition became deteriorated and he was immediately rushed to the local Civil Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The doctors conducted the post-mortem on the body under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Bhawna Bharti.
The body was handed over to the parents for cremation which was attended by several residents on Tuesday evening.
