While 12 women from Basti Danishmandan had reportedly reached the police station number 5 yesterday to file complaints, a similar incident was also reported from Basti Gujan.

However, the police maintained that only two complaints had been lodged so far by devotees.

The police said the alleged snatcher turned out to be a minor. He was caught and frisked by the police but nothing was recovered from him.

The police said no snatching incident was reported during the Shobha

Yatra today.

SHO Shail Chaudhary said, “Yesterday, we received two complaints regarding thefts of earrings. Due to excessive rush, some miscreants might have got active, but no untoward incident was reported today.”

The SHO said, “The boy, who allegedly snatched earrings of three women yesterday, turned out to be a 10-year-old. The victims alleged that he had swallowed three earrings. As nothing was recovered from him, he was handed back to his parents.”
