A group of elderly women, including Satnam Kaur, Amarjeet Kaur and Gian Kaur, made their way to a polling booth in Ward 19, determined to cast their votes despite being unwell. The women, all in their 80s, arrived in an auto, with Amarjeet Kaur, who had a fever, saying it was her right to vote.

“I did not want to waste my vote by sitting inside and then complaining later,” said Amarjeet. Satnam Kaur echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of exercising their franchise. “It is the elected member’s duty to serve our ward, but before that, it is our duty to vote,” she added.

While the booth saw fewer young voters, the elderly women showed their unwavering commitment to the electoral process.
