Former MP and senior BJP leader Avinash Rai Khanna has welcomed the Modi government’s decision to include caste-based data in the upcoming national census, calling it a “historic and revolutionary step” towards social justice and inclusive development.

Addressing mediapersons here, Khanna said the inclusion of caste enumeration is a testament to the Modi government’s commitment to the nation’s broader social and economic welfare. He asserted that this move will bring greater transparency in policy making and help bridge the gap in equality across different social strata.

“Caste census will help the government better understand the socio-economic conditions of various communities. It will reveal which castes are most deprived of education, employment and healthcare, and help in formulating targeted welfare schemes,” Khanna said.
