Lohian police have registered a case under Sections 386 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code after a local resident alleged that he and his family were threatened with dire consequences through WhatsApp calls originating from a foreign number.

According to the complaint, Avtar Singh Chandi, a resident of Mohalla Mustafabad, Lohian, stated that on November 30 at he received a WhatsApp call on his mobile number 98144-88300 from an international number 13052022116. The caller claimed to be an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, after which the call was abruptly disconnected.

The complainant further reported that on December 5, the same foreign number again made a WhatsApp call, this time to his cousin brother Tarsem Singh on mobile number 98153-15470. During this call, the caller allegedly introduced himself in the same manner and threatened that if a sum of Rs 5 crore was not paid, the complainant’s family would be killed.

Thereafter, similar threatening calls were again received from the same foreign number on December 8 and December 11, reiterating the extortion demand and issuing repeated threats.

Based on the statement, police registered case against an unknown accused at Lohian police station. The police stated that the matter is under investigation and efforts are being made to trace the caller and verify the source of the foreign WhatsApp calls. Further legal action will be taken as the investigation progresses.
