President of BJP SC Morcha Sucha Ram Ladhar has sent a complaint to the National SC Commission, Election Commission and the Governor of Punjab asking for an inquiry and action in the case of fake SC certificates involving SAD candidate Surjit Kaur during the recent Jalandhar West Assembly byelection. He has written that people belonging to upper castes were using fake SC certificates for admissions in professional colleges and universities and to get jobs.

He alleged that high-caste Rajputs have started procuring Sirkiband SC certificates and are contesting elections.

Ladhar said Surjit Kaur belongs to a non-scheduled (Rajput) community and contested from the reserved seat of Jalandhar West. He expressed concern over the malpractice and demanded an inquiry. He said Surjit Kaur’s SC certificate had already been revoked by the Punjab Welfare Department and the decision of scrutiny committee was upheld by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He requested that the unlawful menace of fake SC certificates should be dealt with strictly in Punjab.
