On the United Kisan Morcha’s call for blocking roads in state, farmers of the United Kisan Morcha also started a jam at Rahimpur Mandi in Hoshiarpur between from 11 am to 3 pm.

The farmer leaders said the arhtiyas had started buying paddy, but the 10-kg cut per quintal, that was being asked by arhtiyas and sheller owners, was not acceptable to them.

They said they could not give crops that they have brought up like their sons for free. The Punjab Government had failed in every aspect, they added.

They warned that if the purchase of paddy was not done on time in the coming days, they would hold a big protest, which would be the responsibility of the administration and the government.

A large number of farmers, including Harbans Singh Sangha, Jagtar Singh Bhinder, Baldev Singh, Sodhi Singh, Satnam Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Jarnail Singh, Harnek Singh and Gurcharan Singh were also present.
