Some assailants on motorcycles opened fire on a family travelling in a car in village Chakkowal, killing father-son duo this evening.

Kashmiri Lal of village Talwandi Araiyan was going to a hospital at Chakkowal with his son Amarjit Lal, his wife and children around 8:30 pm to see a newborn baby born in the family when unknown assailants riding on motorcycles stopped them on the way and started firing. Kashmiri Lal and his son received gunshots and were seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital where they died. The old rivalry is likely to be the reason.

According to sources, the case has some foreign hand. The people who had enmity with Kashmiri Lal were abroad and it is believed that they would have carried out this murderous attack through contract killers. Kashmiri Lal too had returned from abroad a few years ago.
