A fire broke out in Hajipur’s Co-operative Bank between 6 and 7 am on Tuesday.

This morning, local people suddenly saw smoke coming out of the Co-operative Bank’s building in Hajipur. After this, residents gathered around and informed the bank officials about the incident. As soon as the information was received, the bank officials and employees reached the branch. When the shutter of the bank’s branch was opened, there was smoke all around and nobody could enter the building. On receiving the information, officials of Fire Brigade Department in Mukerian and Talwara reached the spot and started efforts to extinguish the flames. Later, the bank’s chairman Vikramjit Sharma, director Lakhanveer Singh, DM Lakhveer Singh, manager Varinder Kumar, manager Lavi Minhas and Balwinder Singh also reached the spot.

The chairman Vikramjit and officials said all the records of the bank were safe and that the documents kept inside the bank had not been damaged by the fire. He said the air conditioners and printers installed in the bank had been burnt to ashes. Apart from this, the fittings inside the bank branch had suffered heavy damage, he said.
