A massive fire broke out in a cluster of shanties near Nadala town on Friday night, reducing eight dwellings to ashes and leaving several families homeless. The fire reportedly originated from a nearby agricultural field where a farmer had set wheat stubble ablaze, which then spread to the slum area due to strong winds and light rain.

The incident occurred near the police post on the Nadala-Bholath road. According to labourers working in local mandi, the fire quickly reached shanties, but workers were able to rescue several residents, including young children.

Victims alleged that they approached the nearby police post seeking help, but received no assistance. "We kept pleading with the police, but no one responded," said one of the affected residents. While there were no reported casualties, the fire caused extensive damage. Clothing, cash, stored wheat and other belongings were completely destroyed. However, prompt action by residents helped in removing gas cylinders safely from shanties, preventing a potential explosion. A fire brigade team from Bholath reached the spot and managed to control the blaze.
