Huge effigies of king Ravana went up in flames as Phagwara joined the nation on Thursday in celebrating Dasehra, marking the triumph of good over evil.

The celebrations took place at seven different locations, including Prachin Shiv Mandir Arorian, Shri Hanuman Garhi, Dussehra Ground Baba Gadhia, Arya High School, Dharamkot, Onkar Nagar and Hadiabad.

Tight security arrangements were in place across the city, with the police ensuring peaceful festivities. Several politicians, social and religious leaders attended the various events throughout the day. Similar Dasehra celebrations were reported from surrounding areas including Goraya, Phillaur, Banga, Nawanshehr, Nurmahal and Nakodar.
