Panic gripped the Phillaur area late last night after a gunfire incident was reported behind a private school located along the Phillaur highway. The sudden shooting left residents in fear, reigniting concerns about the rising criminal activities in the region.

According to preliminary reports, an unidentified assailant opened fire near the school, injuring one person. The victim has been identified as Karan Kumar, a resident of Phillaur village, who sustained a bullet injury in his thigh. He was first taken to a local hospital and later referred to Jalandhar for advanced medical treatment.

Police officials reached the scene soon after receiving information. The SHO of Phillaur said that a police team is actively investigating the case and details will be shared once the preliminary inquiry is completed. “We have collected crucial evidence from the site and are following significant leads,” the SHO stated.

Local residents expressed deep concern over repeated incidents of violence in the area. They alleged that despite several recent shootings and other criminal activities, local authorities and political leaders have failed to ensure public safety.

The incident comes shortly after a previous shootout targeting Mandeep Singh Gora, owner of Atwal House, which had created tension in the locality. Even before that matter could settle down, the latest firing has once again shaken public confidence and heightened fear among residents.

Unconfirmed sources indicate that the police have identified potential suspects though no official confirmation or arrests have been made so far.
