Jalandhar, January 27
A friends’ reunion ended in a tragedy near Dasuya on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway last night. Five youths, who were friends since their school days, met a tragic end.
Inderjit Kaundal (23), Abhi (22), and Raju (24) hailed from Bhargo Camp, while Rishabh Minhas (26) resided in Mission Complex and Ankit Kumar (23) used to live at Ghas Mandi in Jalandhar. The youths, who were unmarried, were at a stage in their lives where they were prioritising their career to provide financial support to their families.
While Abhi, Rishabh and Raju, were the only sons of their families, Rishabh had four brothers and a sister and Ankit was the brother of two sisters and a younger brother.
It was learnt that Abhi was working as a chef in Jalandhar, Rishabh was assisting his father in a seed company, Ankit was a software engineer in Chandigarh, Inderjeet was pursuing modelling aspirations in Mumbai and Raju was employed at a medicine shop in Dilkusha Market.
As per details provided by family members and neighbours, all five friends reunited after an extended period due to their busy lives and professions. They planned to attend the wedding of a mutual friend on the Jalandhar-Pathankot road and planned to travel together in Rishabh’s car.
Their relatives said after attending the wedding, Rishabh had to deliver some seeds to his client on the Hoshiarpur side.
“After completing the delivery, they were returning to Jalandhar when the accident took place. They were enjoying during the trip. One of them even shared videos of their journey on the social media,” their relatives said.
They said Rishabh’s final rites were conducted this evening, while the cremation of others will be performed tomorrow morning.
